Dump and go meals for camping
You’ve been kayaking, hiking, rock climbing all day long and you’re exhausted. Now the kids are hungry and you don’t want to be cooking over the campfire in the rain. Don’t worry, dump pot meals are the way to go! I love these because I can prep them before we even leave for vacation. You can really make them any time and keep them stored in the ziplock freezer bags. You can either cook them in an instant pot or let them simmer all day in the crockpot. Either way all the ingredients are prepped and in a bag ready to go any time!
What you’ll need:
One 7.25 ounce can cream of potato
One 7.25 ounce can cream of cheddar
One block cream cheese
One cup mild cheddar
One cup sharp cheddar
One bag frozen hash browns
Garlic salt and onion powder to taste (I use about a teaspoon of each personally)
1.5 cups chicken broth
Whatever meat preference you have, 2 cups (I prefer kielbasa, but we have also used diced ham or bacon bits. If you aren’t a pork person, you can use chicken or beef too. You also don’t have to use any meet at all.)
You can either throw this in the crockpot to simmer on low for 8 to 10 hours or in the instant pot for 30 minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on your instant pot. I highly recommend traveling with either the crockpot or instant pot. It makes it so much easier to cook. Of course this will depend on if you have electricity at your campsite or if you take a camper. We live that glamping life now and enjoy a dry, warm bed at the end of the day as well as electricity to make our meals on, especially when it’s a dump and go!
